A sporty 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid ST-Line series with a sport-tuned suspension for AWD models, updates to the exterior with a larger grille, new headlamps and taillamps, updated technology including SYNC4, larger available screens, Alexa built-in hands-free experience, new driver assistance technology with Intersection Assist 2.0 which helps drivers avoid potential collisions and Blind Spot Assist. The 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid has a 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain matched to an eCVT with a combined 192 horsepower. FWD and AWD options are available. To every tank of fuel, you will get almost 900 km and over 550 miles of range. Standard features on the 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid include, an 8” touchscreen with SYNC 4, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, an 8” driver display, 6-speaker audio system, 8-way power driver’s seat, 4-way manual passenger seat, heated front seats, vinyl and cloth upholstery, a heated steering wheel, power liftgate and Ford Co-Pilot 360. The all-new Ford Escape is a big improvement from the outgoing model. With a larger platform with more legroom and width, this new 2020 Ford Escape is now the right size to take on the best selling Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. The Ford Escape used to be the best seller in Canada for many years but the fact Ford left the design far too long was a detriment. Now, the all-new Ford Escape compact SUV is set to challenge with two gasoline engines and two alternative power plants including a hybrid and plug-un hybrid Ford Escape. this 5-passenger utility is powered by a base 1.5L 3cylinder turbocharged engine or what Ford calls EcoBoost. This 3-cylinder Ford Escape has 181hp and 190lb.-ft. of torque. The optional gasoline engine is a 2.0L EcoBoost or turbocharged 4-cylinder with 250hp and 280lb.-ft. of torque but premium gas is recommended. The Ford Escape small SUV is available with front wheel drive FWD and all wheel drive AWD In addition, the new Ford Escape is available with a 2.5L 4-cylinder and hybrid system or plug-in hybrid system. The interior of this 5-passenger 2-row compact utility is fitted with typical materials in this class but many will but one up from the base model in Canada to get the Sync3 infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a larger 8-inch screen, heated steering wheel and heated front seats. The top Titanium Ford Escape can also be fitted with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. #FordEscapePHEV #EscapePHEV #CoupleCarReview This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new Ford Escape PHEV or plug-in hybrid SUV.This plug-in hybrid has a 2.5L 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle powertrain matched with an ECVT and a 96 kW electric motor. Total system output is 221 horsepower and it offers 60 km/37 miles of EV range. It is FWD only and you can put regular fuel in this Escape PHEV. The new design allows for more cargo and cabin space with the battery stored underneath the vehicle. It has a 14.4 kWh battery so it doesn’t quite qualify for the full Federal EV rebate in Canada of $5,000. Batteries need to be 15 kWh or larger, this Escape plug-in hybrid qualifies for $2,500. In the US, you qualify for a federal tax credit up to $6,843. We are testing the top Titanium trim with chrome accents, body coloured door handles, a black mesh grille with chrome surround, dual chrome exhaust tips, LED headlamps and LED taillamps. The Escape PHEV offers a ground clearance of 7.3”, not as much as the RAV4 with 8.4” or the Santa Fe with 8.2” but more than the Tucson at 7.1”. When it comes to charging with a 110-volt Level 1 charger, the estimated time to fully charge the battery is 10-11 hours and using a 240-volt Level 2 charger is 3.5 hours. The Escape PHEV gets excellent fuel economy, 2.2Le/100km city/highway combined/ 105 MPGe. Once the battery is depleted it gets a combined rating of 5.8L/100km/40 MPG. With a full tank and a full battery, it can travel 784 km/520 miles. There are three trims to choose from, the base model gets an 8” touchscreen which is the only size available across all trims, Sync 3 with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 6.5” instrument cluster, cloth heated seats, manual driver and passenger seats and Ford Co-Pilot 360 which includes, blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert. In the US, you can add packages like the cold weather package for $645 USD to the base trim to get heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated side-view mirrors and the remote start system or the convenience package for $945 USD for features like a power driver’s seat and power liftgate. In Canada, I feel the best value trim goes to the middle SEL trim. That’s where you’ll find a 10-way power driver’s seat, 4-way manual passenger seat, power lift-gate, heated steering wheel, an engine block heater, remote start system, heated side-view mirrors and back up sensors. You can add the technology package for $2,500 CAD/$1,050 USD if you are interested in the 10-speaker B&O sound system, a hands-free foot activated tailgate, 12.3” digital instrument cluster and a wireless charger. A panoramic sunroof can be added for $1,750 CAD. In the US, you can add the sunroof for $1,495 USD on all trims; it is not included in a package. The top Titanium trim we are testing has some extra features; our test model is $46,749 CAD. It has ambient lighting, a power passenger seat, driver seat memory and a standard 12.3” digital instrument cluster. If you add the titanium package for $2,300 CAD/$1,825 USD to this trim, it includes, leather trimmed perforated seats, a head-up display, wireless charger and a panoramic sunroof. In order to fill the void left by cars, Ford would continue to invest heavily in crossover vehicles. The #FordEscape was one of the brand's first crossover and for 2020, its been completely redesigned from the ground up. The #EscapeHybrid also returns with over 40 MPG and a new Plug-in Hybrid with up to 30 miles of range will be coming later this year.
