The resulting mixed gas is sometimes referred to as Oxy-Hydrogen gas, which is 2 parts Hydrogen (H2) and 1 part Oxygen (O2). I typically hook this up to my car battery while the vehicle is running, so the alternator takes most of the load. On 12 volts I get about 1.5 liters/minute, but when I want to make the gas faster, I hook 2 car batteries in series for 24 volts, and this exponentially increases the gas production to over 5 liters per minute. Current draw seems to be around 20-50 amps depending on whether you use 12-24 volts. High current draws mean the electrolyte heats up, and if left too long the plastic can warp or melt causing structural failure. Some people ask why the plates aren't all electrically connected. The plates that aren't connected are called "floater" plates, or "neutral" plates. There is too much information to post about them here, so do a google search, or check out websites like 🤍 for an in depth explanation of the theory. I used KOH as my electrolyte because research suggested it was the best. I haven't experimented with other electrolytes, but have heard that salt, sodium hydroxide, vinegar, etc could work, but will dirty and may corrode the plates. Potassium Hydroxide keeps the system clean, however, it is caustic, so be careful if you choose to use it. You can probably get away with about 2-4 teaspoons of KOH per 6 liters of water. This system produces an extremely powerful OxyHydrogen gas. When the gas is used, it simply turns back into water, and that's good for the environment. However I believe it takes more electric energy to produce the gas than is obtained from the gas. This device merely converts the energy from one form to another, with given losses. As long as you have enough electricity, the amount of water already in this system is enough to produce thousands and thousands of liters of fuel. Some people say this is the fuel of the future. A suitable precaution to give the cell the longest life may be to empty it of electrolyte while in storage. Hello. This hydrogen generator was made 9 years ago. It is my first generator and consists of 25 stainless steel plates with a thickness of 1.5 mm. The gasket separating the plates is made of 1.5 mm rubber. The plates are placed (+ nnn-nnn + nnn-nnn + nnn-nnn +) so 4 plates with plus contacts and 3 plates with minus contacts and between them 3 plates without contact. The extra water vessel is made tooth-in filter by a compressor with a few minor modifications made by me. The electrolysis of water in this video is also done with distilled water, potassium flakes and a current of 12V. For this hydrogen generator I had a PVM made by me 9 years ago according to the scheme of one in the trade, but because I interrupted the experiments a long time was lost among things. As you saw in the video, the Amps consumed are about 7-10 amps and a fairly generous production of hydrogen. Secured by automatic #30A #fuse, so in case your system is overloaded for any reason, the fuse will trip off, and the system will automatically stop. The #Hydrogen #Generator has measures of 10 X 10 X 7 cm. It's compact, so it is easy for installers to find a space under the hood and near the engine to install it. Bolts are left a little longer, so few of them could be used for mounting it in the car. Only upper right and upper left connectors should not be used for attachment because they are the electrical connectors, where positive (12V) and negative (ground) will be attached. The generator itself is made with SS plates with configurations one positive, one negative, and four neutral plates. The space between the plates is 2 mm as the fatness of the gaskets is precisely 2.5mm, so after tightening the whole construction, we have exactly 2mm. A special recipe makes gaskets of EPDM rubber. The #HHO #Reservoir of the system is with a volume of 1.4 liters made of PEHD material. We have tested it with temperature, pressure, mechanical pressure, and this way, we are sure of the quality and fatness of the reservoir wall. The cap of the reservoir is made of PAHD, and we put a 3mm gasket inside to be sure that you can tighten it quite hard, so it will never lose HHO gas. This is very important. Otherwise, if the cap is losing gas, you may not find any difference with the fuel-saving or emission reduction if oxy-hydrogen gas is not going into the engine. Bubbler is also specially selected for extremely high quality because it needs to be sustainable of an explosion, vibrations, temperature, etc. This is one of the most important elements in every HHO kit because it prevents any liquid from going into the engine. So that must never happen, so we are sure only gas is entering the engine. That is why we use this small pipe coming from the bottom of the bubbler, and it is going next to the wall of the bubbler, so this way it determines the maximum level of water inside. In case you are driving a long distance, and the electrolyte gets hot, it will have some vapor possibly, so this vapor or steam will be collected into the bubbler. Eventually, the water level will get higher inside the bubbler. Imagine what could happen if it gets too high level this water. Suddenly ma goes into the engine, which is dangerous for the engine. That is why this small pipe determines the maximum level. Outside this pipe, the extra condensation water will drop out like the Air-conditioner condensed water on any vehicle. The hoses that we use are PA11 or PA12, so they have a total quality. In all vehicles, there is this type and standard of hoses. We do not use any garden hoses and low quality, which are not appropriate via any standard for vehicles. We also use an automatic fuse to secure the #Hydrogen #System. At exactly 30A, the fuse will trip off itself, so if anything like a higher load occurs, this will stop the system. Wires that we are six sq. mm. section so that they can carry even bigger loads than 25A, we limit our system to a maximum of 16A thanks to our #Dynamic #PWM for petrol injection or diesel engine. Actually, the #Dynamic #PWM changing the amps, respectively the load and production of gas based on the RPMs, so in this case, the system is automated energy-optimized because it's not overloading the charging system like the Constant Current PWM's and also, it's double secured. Of course, you can also control this #HHO #kit with #Constant #Current #PWM if you would like, but we recommend you to use #Dynamic #PWM because this device is much better in functionality and efficiency! The system uses 10% the density of electrolyte, so it will not freeze during winter when we can prepare also a stronger electrolyte, like 15% density. And there's the rub: Using dirty energy to make clean energy doesn't solve the pollution problem it just moves it around. " ELECTROLYSIS: Most of the remainder of today's hydrogen is made by electrically splitting water into its constituent parts, hydrogen, and oxygen. But because fossil fuels generate more than 70 percent of the nation's electrical power, hydrogen produced from the grid would still be a significant source of greenhouse gas. If solar, wind, or other renewable resources generate electricity, hydrogen could be produced without any carbon emissions at all. NUCLEAR POWER: Next-generation nuclear power plants will reach temperatures high enough to produce hydrogen as well as electricity, either by adding steam and heat to the electrolysis process, or by adding heat to a series of chemical reactions that split the hydrogen from water.. Department of Energy is largely funding a 10-year, $950 million projects to build a coal-fed plant that will produce hydrogen to make electricity, and likewise lock away carbon dioxide to achieve what it bills as "the world's first zero-emissions fossil fuel plant." Storage At room temperature and pressure, hydrogen's density is so low that it contains less than one-three-hundredth of the energy in an equivalent volume of gasoline. In order to fit into a reasonably sized storage tank, hydrogen has to be somehow squeezed into a denser form. LIQUEFACTION: Chilled to near absolute zero, hydrogen gas turns into a liquid containing one-quarter the energy in an equivalent volume of gasoline. The technology is well-proven: For decades, NASA has used liquid hydrogen to power vehicles such as the space shuttle. The cooling process requires a lot of energy, though-roughly a third of the amount held in the hydrogen. Storage tanks are bulky, heavy, and expensive. COMPRESSION: Some hydrogen-powered vehicles use tanks of room-temperature hydrogen compressed to an astounding 10,000 psi. The Sequel, which GM unveiled in January 2005, carries 8 kilograms of compressed hydrogen this way-enough to power the vehicle for 300 miles. Refueling with compressed hydrogen is relatively fast and simple. But even compressed, hydrogen requires large- volume tanks. They take up four to five times as much space as a gas tank with an equivalent mileage range. Then again, fuel cell cars can accommodate bigger tanks because they contain fewer mechanical parts. SOLID-STATE: Certain compounds can trap hydrogen molecules at room temperature and pressure, then release them upon demand. So far, the most promising research has been conducted with a class of materials called metal hydrides. These materials are stable but heavy: A 700-pound tank might hold a few hours' fuels. However, exotic compounds now being studied could provide a breakthrough to make hydrogen storage truly practical. "High-pressure tanks are a stopgap until we can develop materials that will allow us to do solid-state storage efficiently," says Dan O'Connell, a director of GM's hydrogen vehicle program. Use Once hydrogen reaches consumers, is there anything they can do with it except drive vehicles? Home energy generation is one other option. The question is whether hydrogen would be more practical than current methods. Hydrogen produced by steam reformation or by electrolysis loses energy when it is converted into electricity. The resulting efficiency is roughly equal to that of today's power plants — which pay a lot less for raw materials. Direct generation of electricity through wind and solar power will also be more efficient for most stationary applications.
