Setup a base drawing that allows for instant and easy resizing of both the box dimensions and finger joint specs. Then further customise design features ready for laser cutting. I'd been trying to figure this for a while until I found the excellent Onshape Feature Script called Laser Joint (which is both powerful and super-user friendly), and figured a few basics of parametric design. Hope this is of some use to you!
In this video we look at how to use variable sizing with Onshape whilst making a simple truss type structure that can be easily finger jointed using the feature script called Laser Joint. The truss pattern is simply sketched and cutout with another feature script called Lighten.
Continuing from D1.4 we finish the workflow by adding a variable for our material thickness, using the Auto Layout Featurescript to flatten our model, and use Kiri:Moto CAM to quickly get a DXF of our part.
