With this release we have a new video series not just showing what’s new in the patch but including some behind the scenes elements and introducing you to the members of the team. We plan to build on this format for future editions and are excited to share this. RimWorld Console Edition is available on PlayStation and Xbox: 🤍 What’s New 0:43 - New Message and Alert Hubs Story is key in RimWorld, and Alerts, messages and quests are the core of a good story so we are excited to reveal the brand new inbox, revamped from the ground up. Accessed anytime by pressing the RB/R1 button, you are first presented with a familiar sight of the pinned alerts, with fast access to key actions, which we know players love. Nothing has changed there but you will notice new button prompts and number badges at the top of the hud. Since a lot can happen, fast, in RimWorld these badges will help you keep track of anything you may have missed, showing you the number of unread items. All of this is hidden until you press the RB/R1, that way we keep the hub clean while you are enjoying the story or in the middle of the action, but it super fast to access for quick glances and checks. By pressing the view button or touch pad you can access the all new inbox. Split into three sections: alerts, unread messages and historical messages.Access is faster and more convenient, these are ordered by in-game date, with the details of the item on the right hand side, making the content easier to read and actions faster to perform. All actions are easy to perform and removing alerts / messages no longer closes the panel, so management is much faster and easier. The log of previous events and messages are also easy to access from here. 1:48 - Quests Quests are accessed by X / circle button, with quest manger panel showing you all your quests. Those that need to be accepted show in the available tab, unseen quests show as a number badge. Any quests you have in progress appear in the second tab, with full details and all complete or failed show in the history tab. 2:09 - The Learning Helper We are excited to be bringing you the Learning Helper! The biggest new feature, of the patch the Learning Helper is here to give first time and existing players a better grasp of the depth of the RimWorld’s deep simulation. The intelligent engine delivers lessons when you need it and is out the way when you don't while tracking your progress through them. If you’re playing RimWorld and something happens in the game relating to a concept you haven’t experienced before, a lesson will be activated and a new badge will shown in the alerts hud. Don’t worry about repeating a lesson you’ve already done. Lessons will be automatically marked as learned when you complete them, and you also have the option to mark them off manually. Learning progress will be tracked between saved games too. Of course you can access the learner helper at any time and explore any concept at your own pace. The friendly search filter allows you to quickly look for any lesson, built with controller in mind entering topic terms is really fast. It took a lot of work to bring this feature to the game and the work doesn't stop here, we will review feedback and continue to improve this over time. 3:19 - Colonist names and stack sizes This much requested feature finally comes to console - while simple on the surface this was technically challenging and we are excited to have made it possible. You can access this feature from the overlays menu. Hold LT / L2 and press d-pad right to toggle them on. From then on whenever you want to see the labels just hold the button down, release to hide them again. Once again we have tried our best to make things fast and clean for console players. 3:42 - Bug fixes and improvements The new patch includes the most bugs fixes and improvements to date. The patch note page listed around 125 of the changes you are most likely to notice and in addition we have a lot of performance tweaks and work conducted to build foundations for future updates. Community reports across Twitter, Reddit and Discord really helped us find some of the more uncommon or hard to reproduce bugs in the game, and we have addressed a lot of them in this patch. Thank you for all the reports! 4:01 - QA Interview Even with a large team of skilled QA an infinitely repayable game like RimWorld, with its deep complexity, and mechanics, throws so many unexpected events and scenarios at players, community reports are vital. With Coko back in the colony and Thoraya converted to the Cult of Jingz, our sights are set on a new home: In the middle of the cold bog, we can move some trees out of the way to clear a space for a few small buildings. After a failed prison break, Thoraya also finally re-joins the colony for good and with four colonists, we quickly erect the center of a small village. In the meantime, Specs becomes the "Treespeaker of Jingz", the colony's moral leader, and together with Maniac, she ensures a steady supply of fresh meat. Another quest from the Empire then rewards us with a second masterwork great bow and all in all, things are going pretty well for our cultists. Will that trend continue or will we be forced to make some changes soon? Additionally, we are settling on a tile featuring both a large river as well as a coast to the sea, so space will come at a premium in this playthrough. We are starting with a modified Rimworld Naked Brutality scenario, leaving our starting colonist Spectral Phoenix with no food, items, research or equipment to start her journey in the cold bog – not even clothes. We are also making our starting colonist a member of a tribe, severely lowering the speed with which new projects are unlocked. The goal of this Rimworld Ideology challenge in the cold bog is to start with absolutely nothing and survive the dangers of the swamp on Randy Random "Losing is fun difficulty" with the threat scale cranked up to 500%. With the Rimworld Ideology DLC and the Rimworld 1.3 update, we also see the introduction of completely customizable belief systems and we begin by choosing "Tree Connection" as our starting meme - the foundation of our ideology. Additionally, we see social roles, rituals, hunts for ancient relics and cross-cultural interaction introduced to Rimworld, as well as the mystic Gauranlen trees and the brand new Archonexus ending. Rimworld is a Sci-Fi colony builder simulation game focused on managing a small group of survivors with the goal of eventually building a space ship to escape the planet. Rimworld is developed and published by Ludeon Studios. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game went through several Alpha and Beta versions before seeing the release of the Rimworld 1.0 version in October 2018. Rimworld's Vanilla Expanded Devs just came out with a new faction mod that expands the role of PIRATES and adds a lot more depth to them. However, with this mod also comes A TON of easily broken mechanics that revolve around these pirates. Today, we're going to be using them to create a near infinite profit machine with an unlimited amount of colonists such that we effectively cannot lose. I love the Vanilla Expanded Devs and this mod is astounding in the amount of content it adds! Pen marker: Build a pen by placing a pen marker in an enclosed room or fenced off area. Once placed, you can assign a certain set of animals to the pen and handlers will bring the correct animals over. Pen markers have an “auto cut” option which will periodically designate inedible plants in the pen to be cut. Build fences to enclose pens and prevent your animals from escaping. Animals that are assigned to pens cannot pass through fences or barricades. Handlers will use ropes to lead animals from one location to another, or out of a pen. Some animals will now roam if they are not contained within a pen. Animals that are assigned to a pen are non-aggressive to raiders and vice-versa. Added animal flap. It is a door that allows animals to pass through while insulating the temperature. Added egg box. Tame egg-laying creatures will lay inside the box and the eggs can be used for food. Haulers will automatically empty the box when it is full. Added new floor type: Straw matting. Filth is produced 95% less on this floor which makes it useful for barns with messy animals. Since animal filth has been reworked, animals should be kept in barns to prevent unnecessary filth in colonist buildings. Added auto slaughter system. The player can select species of animals to keep and the rest will be automatically slaughtered. Added animal sterilization. Colony animals can be sterilized to prevent them from breeding. Tame animals can now be released to the wild. Breach raids Added new raid type: Breaching. Breaching raids will attempt to reach your colony by breaking through walls with unique weapons. Added new mechanoid type: Termite. The termite is a medium-sized mechanoid that specializes in burrowing, digging, and breaking through defensive structures. Defenders must decide between eliminating the termite before it digs through their defenses, or waiting for it to emerge. New weapon: Breach axe. A combined blade and tool-head attached to a sturdy haft. While slightly less effective than other weapons against human enemies, it excels at tearing down walls, doors, and other structures thanks to its integrated tool-head. Miscellaneous Added facial hair for pawns. The style of hair is based on the pawn’s background. Added visual wound and prosthetic overlays on pawns. When multiple pawns are drafted and selected, the player can space them out by dragging the right mouse button. Added new meal types: Vegetarian and Carnivore fine/lavish meals. These are made exclusively of vegetable/meat ingredients Added a search box for many dialogs and tabs. Added VFX for: Research bench. Gun/mortar recoil. Digging graves. Chopping trees. Sowing plants. Harvesting plants. Improvements and adjustments: Base game Goodwill All goodwill changes are now multiplied by 1.25x when moving towards natural goodwill. Goodwill with factions gradually shifts towards the faction’s natural goodwill. Goodwill with factions is influenced by recent events. These goodwill factors will decay over time. Guest status with a faction is reset upon gifting a pawn to that faction. Animals and plants Raiders no longer actively attack passive colony animals. Animals tab life stage tooltip now also shows the animal's exact age. Wild plants spawned during gameplay start at 15% growth instead of 5%. Plants newly sown by players start at 0.01% growth. PlantHarvestYield stat above 100% gives a bonus to yield. Improved "Non-ideal temperature" plant inspect string and prevented it from saying "Not growing" if it is in fact growing very slowly. Animals are unwilling to eat plants under 10% growth. Herbivores rebalance: Hunger rate reduced by 50%. Adult age is reduced by 33%. Gestation days reduced by 33%. (This does not include unfertilized egg layers.) Reduced toxic fallout buildup by 50%. Grass nutrition reduced from 0.7 to 0.5. Animal filth rate is no longer a virtual stat calculated from body size and petness. Animal filth rate is now a stat defined on animals and humanlikes: FilthMultiplier. and much more!
