A guide to getting started with Risk of Rain, an awesome sci-fi roguelite by Hopoo Games. Site: 🤍 For lots more game info and tips, check out this great fan wiki: 🤍 A couple things I should have mentioned (also included via annotation): - Your second ability, Full Metal Jacket, damages all enemies in the line you're facing. Use it to whittle down crowds. - There are lots of small grey containers around. They contain experience, gold and health. Definitely open them, they're free! - Item drops are generally random, but cheap $25 chests generally drop white-bordered common items (but can drop better ones), while more expensive $50 chests are guaranteed to drop at least green-bordered uncommons or red-bordered rares. - There are items that say *USE* on them. When you pick up one of these, it will be added to your loadout and you can press the appropriate key (default G for keyboard, B for 360 controller) to activate it. They have long cooldowns but are powerful. - You can only have ONE *USE* item at a time, whereas all other items can be collected and stacked without limit. If you find another, you can swap it for your old one by pressing Q on keyboard, Y on 360 pad. Also, apologies for the somewhat wonky quality, I'll rectify that if/when I make more vids. Intro: 0:00-0:16 1st tip: 0:17-0:53 2nd tip: 0:54-2:09 3rd tip: 2:10-2:55 4th tip: 2:56-3:41 5th tip: 3:42-4:53 5 tips for Risk of Rain 2 Beginners 1. Try out every character first. In Risk of Rain 2, you only start with one character (they are called survivors) and have to unlock the rest through challenges/achievements. Every survivor plays differently and some have some interesting mechanics that you might find extremely entertaining, but you'll never know unless you try them out. 2. Don't waste time - Time is one thing you cannot waste in Risk of Rain 2, the longer you stay in a stage the harder the enemies become. 3. Collect all the Lunar coins. Lunar coins are extremely hard to come by, in fact, you might not see a Lunar coin in your first 10 runs, that's just how rare they are. But this is for a good reason, some of the strongest most OP items in Risk of Rain 2 are called Lunar items, these items cost Lunar coins and can completely change your run. PLUS, to unlock one of the survivors in Risk of Rain 2 you need to spend 10 Lunar coins, so get in the habit of picking them up when they drop. I have a video on farming lunar coins if you wanna check that out. 4. Mobility is greater than damage. Listen, everybody loves Sonic but not everybody loves Knuckles. The reason for this is simple, people wanna go fast. And trust me when I say, you wanna go fast in Risk of Rain. The enemies hit super hard once the timer hits 10 minutes (at higher difficulties at least) and as they say, (if you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a titan beam). Items like wax quail can save your life and can help you explore the map much quicker, which in turn lets you spend less time on the same stage which in turn means enemies have less health, so technically speaking you could say that mobility gives you damage. Just a thought. 5. Kill the annoying things first. As you are probably new to the game, you probably don't have the firmest grasp on what you need to be killing first. Should you kill the boss and ignore the other enemies? Or should you kill the enemies and THEN the boss? Well, my youngling, it depends. Sometimes it is just a pain to kill the boss when you've got thousands of goombas trying to hug you, while sometimes killing the boss is a breeze. My advice to you on this is to SLAUGHTER EVERY WISP, KILL THEM ALL. *Ahem* Seriously though, if you see wisps make sure to take them out first they are enemy number one. Because they can one-shot you, not necessarily true but I don't want to bog you down with the deets on this just yet. After killing wisps you can choose what to kill afterward, but if an elite spawns, make sure to take it out first as they can oftentimes be stronger than the boss itself. Ya, feel me?
