Thank you Mayor Adams for letting us do our jobs again...we weren't allowed to do searches under the DiBlasios administration for 3 years! We have a difficult job that no one wants to do but we do it everyday to put food on the table for our families. Incarcerated people and officers deserve to be safe at Rikers and allowing us to do searches again helps us do just that. Shame on the city council for not allowing people who want this job to take this job when 3000 officers quit or retired over the last 3 years and more continue to quit each day. Yet the city council wants to speak of safer jails without allowing us to do what's required to make them so.
