UPDATE: So later I tested this game with e-cores disabled and stuttering was completely gone and fps was also constant 60. Maybe the game gets confused if you have lot's of cpu cores/threads, because I have read lots of complaints from ryzen users too. Dunno. - I was having trouble with really bad stuttering on Elden Ring, and when searching solutions found nothing that worked. Setting Cpu affinity manually and putting it back fixes constant stuttering that Elden Ring suffers. Now I have constant 60fps and no stutters. I have Intel Alder lake 12600kf and GTX 1070Ti. This works for my system, but I haven't tested this on any other setup or cpu. Keep in mind that you need to set cpu affinity manually every time you boot the game order to make this fix to work.

CPU affinity nuances: 1. You need to have at least 12 threads CPU for this. 2. I am not sure if it's possible to offset Elden Ring to desired threads on WIndows. 3. Just offseting apps/services to last 4 threads gives most of performance boost. 4. This helps on older CPUs as well. FPS limit and frametime stabilization nuances: 1. Locking at 60 does help, but requiers some extra moves like forcing game into fullscreen and back to windowed to achieve frametime stability. 2. Locking at something like 59.94 should stabilize frametimes on its own (You can test numbers inbetween to find what works best for you). 3. This fps lock stability trick is just a proof of concept, not like I would use it myself or recommend to play the game online tha way. Later on I plan to do input delay tests. 🤍 Notes: 1. All tests were done on Linux, but overall behavior on Windows is the same. 2. If 60 fps is out of reach for PC but it can run the game at 50+ and there is no VRR screen, I would try to set monitor to 50hz and then lock the game at 50fps. That way it should look and feel smother compared to constant jumping inside the 50 to 60 fps range on a 60hz+ screen. On faster monitors adding a custom refresh rate with a multiple of the framerate you can sustain might be a solution as well (i.e. 90hz for 45fps, 100hz for 50fps, 110hz for 55fps, etc.) #eldenring #darksouls3 #darksouls

Elden Ring the massive Open World RPG is here but many people are experiencing massive stutter and frame loss while trying to enjoy it. Today show you how to fix this common issue through various means. Feel free to try them one by one or apply them all as I walk you through the easiest way to get Elden Ring running buttery smooth and to fix the FPS problem plaguing the PC version. There is no reason to not sit back and enjoy the wonderful world of the Lands Between and here is how you do it: The number one factor seems to be coming from shader processing and performance, so here is a quick fix and the one that worked for me, now granted this only applies to NVIDIA graphics cards, but there will be other fixes later in the video. If you have an NVIDIA card though, try this fix first. Go to your Nvidia Control Panel and under MANAGE 3D Settings make sure you are on the Global Settings tab and scroll down to SHADER CACHE SIZE and change it to UNLIMITED. Click apply and now relaunch Elden Ring and see if that fixed it for you. Another Nvidia fix is regarding Vsync. Once again go into the Nvidia Control Panel, MANAGE 3D Settings - Program Settings - Add - Elden Ring (eldenring.exe) scroll down to Vsync and set it to Fast and hit Apply. Now launch up Elden Ring and see if the stutter issue is fixed! If that doesn't work or perhaps you don't have an NVIDIA card, here is another fix many are having success with. Go to your windows bar and search for Graphics, click on Graphics Settings, Make sure it is on Desktop app here and click browse. Go through and find your game file and select it then click options here and set for high performance. And lastly, you can press Windows key + X at the same time, click device manager then software devices, then right click Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator and right click it and disable it. Between all of these things, I feel confident you can reduce or eliminate the stuttering and frame loss in your Elden Ring game! In this video I cover how to install and play Elden Ring on Windows 11 and suggest methods of minimizing FPS drops and stuttering, especially when running the game with Nvidia hardware. Step 1. Install Elden Ring. To my knowledge, Elden Ring is exclusive to Steam. 🤍 However, you might be able to find it reduced on sites such as CD Keys. Once purchased, install the game using Steam as normal, however, I would strongly recommend installing this game on an SSD or NVME due to the shader cache issue mentioned earlier. Once the game is installed, launch at least once, choose your graphic settings, then close the game. Step 2. Change Power Plan to High Performance. By default, Windows 11 will default to using the Balanced power plan to balance performance and energy consumption, by limiting the clock speed of your CPU. However, for gaming, the High-Performance plan should be used instead as this sets the minimum and maximum processor state to 100%. In other words, the clock speed of your CPU will be set to the maximum, which can reduce stuttering especially when the game is compiling shaders. The easiest way to make this change is to type “power plan” into the Start menu and opening the “choose a power plan option” search result. From here, tick the High-performance option and close the window. Step 3. Set Elden Ring Graphics Preference to High Performance. Not to be confused with the High-Performance power plan, you can also set the game itself to run-in High-performance mode. To enable this, open the Start Menu and search for “graphics” and open the “Graphics settings” search result. From here, find the game on the list under Custom options for apps, click Options, tick the High-performance option, and then click Save. Close the window once done. Step 4. Set Nvidia Shader Cache Size to Unlimited. Open the Nvidia Control Panel, navigate to 3D Settings / Manage 3D settings, then select Global Settings. About halfway down the list will be the Shader Cache Size so click the drop-down menu on the Settings section and select Unlimited from the list. Click Apply at the bottom of the window to confirm. Step 5. Nvidia Control Panel - Game Specific Tweaks. Whilst still in the Nvidia Control Panel, navigate to 3D Settings / Manage 3D settings, then select the Program Settings, and choose Elden Ring from the drop down menu. Next, set the following, or all that apply to your system. Image Scaling - Off Anisotropic filtering - Off Antialiasing - FXAA - Off Low Latency Mode - On Max Framerate - Off Monitor Technology - G-Sync Compatible Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA) - Off Power management mode - Prefer maximum performance Preferred refresh rate - Highest available Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization - On Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias - Allow Texture filtering - Quality - High Performance Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization - On Triple buffering - Off Vertical sync - Use the 3D application setting Click Apply at the bottom of the window to confirm. Step 6 - In Game Optimal Graphical Settings. Within game, open the Advanced Graphics Settings and set the following. I was having a bunch of performance issues with Elden Ring, including black screens, stuttering and random FPS drops. Here is what I did: 1) Black Screen: Updated my drivers. This is common in all Nvidia graphics cards. The update should remove black screen issues. 2) Stuttering & FPS Drops: Putting my settings at medium and adjusting Depth of Field to Low dramatically improved the performance on my laptop.
